Recent recalls of potentially contaminated food products have certainly provided unwanted publicity – a nightmare for the producer with widespread repercussions. Regaining customer trust and brand loyalty can be a long hard journey.
Prevention is the Primary Measure of due diligence.
Today, our vigilant food manufacturers quite rightly place great importance on risk assessments of potential hazards. Recent incidents involved plastic as the contaminant, highlighting the importance of due diligence at every stage of a production process where typical sources could be from worn equipment components or from crushed and broken utensils.
Prevention must come ahead of detection.
However, plastic remains an entirely suitable material for food production utensils, but it is imperative that they are moulded from the correct material. Klipspringer has for many years paid particular attention to ensure that their colour coded utensils remain fit for purpose. It involves careful selection of correct polymers and the latest technology in moulding, and this level of care was specified at the design stage of the Retreeva Global detectable pens. The aim was to achieve not only detectability but of even more importance, an article that would not fragment under pressure. We suggest that prevention precedes detection in a safe process. Putting it simply, that is why discerning technical staff insist on using Retreeva Global pens and markers.
Here’s a challenge…
Don’t take our word for it, but study the results when crushing your existing factory pens, using your heel or a trolley wheel under load. Can you be sure that every plastic fragment will be accounted for, and if not, can your detectors find them? If you have cause for concern, please request a Retreeva Global pen sample and give it the same treatment – you will be impressed. Yes, of course it will crush but you will notice how it will all hold together completely containing the damaged ink cartridge as well.
I look forward to your call to take up the challenge!
